Tropical Storm Katia Packing Up Strengthe in the Atlantic Ocean
Washington, Aug 31. -Tropical storm Katia has gained strength and is heading west or north west in the Atlantic Ocean, reported Wednesday the National Hurricane Center of Miami, which forecasts the storm to become a hurricane.At 06:00 local time, the eye was tracked at 13.9N and 39.1W, some 1,585km south of Cape Verde Islands with sustained winds of 100km/h and keeps gaining strength and speed to become a major hurricane by the weekend.
If the pattern persists, the 11th storm in the June 1st to Nov. 30th season may escalate to category three hurricane of a maximum of five in the Saffir-Simpson Scale, and second after Irene, that swept through the Caribbean, the eastern coast of the U.S.A and eastern Canada. (Prensa Latina)
