Uruguay: Cine del Mar Festival Features Regional FilmMontevideo, Jul 4. -The Cine del Mar Film Festival will be held July 6-10 in Punta del Este, Uruguay, featuring more than 40 Latin American films.

Fernando Goldsman, president of the Organizing Committee, told Prensa Latina that films will be screened from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Paraguay and Uruguay, with the presence of actors, directors and producers.

The main venues for the fourth edition of this festival will be the Hotel Conrad and Cantegril Hall in the city of Punta del Este.

The two main themes of the festival are the 200th anniversary of Latin American indepedence and the environment.

A special tribute will be paid to Argentine actresses Mirta Busnelli and Katia Alemann, said Goldsman.

The Festival will also honor writer Ernesto Sabato with the exhibition of a film by his son, Mario Sabato, "Ernesto Sabato, Mi Padre."

Argentina will have a strong presence, with films such as "Peron, Apuntes Para Una Biografia", "Orquesta Roja," "Vienen Por el Oro" and others.

Cuba will be represented by the films "Casa Vieja" and "20 Años."

Jorge Jellinek, producer of the festival, said the event will also feature tributes to film greats, discussions and roundtables with specialists, critics and directors.

This year, prizes will be awarded for best feature film and best short, decided by the vote of the audience.

The 4th Cine del Mar Festival is sponsored by the City Council of Maldonado, the Tourism Ministry, the Punta del Este Mayorâ�Ös Office, Uruguayan film institutions and the embassies of the participating nations. (Prensa Latina)
