Belorussian MPs for More Solidarity with CubaMinsk, Jun 8 .- Belorussian members of parliament who are part of the Cuba Friendship Group met on Wednesday to discuss a program of solidarity activities. During a meeting at the Cuban embassy, the president of the group in the Belorussian National Assembly, Igor Karpenko, explained the activities planned for 2011 to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

The Belorussian people support the end of the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba and the release of the Cuban Five, unfairly imprisoned in the United States, said Karpenko, who is also the deputy president of the Belorussian Parliament International Committee.

Cuban Ambassador Alfredo Nieves appreciated the demonstrations of recognition for his country by the parliamentary group and talked about the perfecting of socialism in Cuba and the meaning of global solidarity.

In the meeting, Counselor Nelson Fundora Marchena explained the current state of bilateral trade and ongoing projects. (Prensa Latina)
