Venezuela Modernizes Port Facilities

Caracas, Dec 23. -The Bolivarian Ports Company (BOLIPUERTOS) consolidated the government's port development strategy during 2010, according to the website of the institution.

The development and modernization of the country's ports is priority because of the importance they have inside the national economy.

BOLIPUERTOS works on the construction of a new container terminal in Puerto Cabello, in virtue of an agreement signed with China, while with Portuguese technical cooperation it builds a new dock line in the port of La Guaira, and new scales for weighing.

The institution prioritizes the acquisition of machinery and spare parts for the automatic control for sea traffic and other activities such as port security and extraction of sunken ships. (Prensa Latina)
