Home of Pelé Could Become a Museum
Rio de Janeiro, Oct 19. -The house where the former Brazilian football star Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, was born will be rebuilt and may be turned into a museum, local authorities said on Monday.
The city council of Tres Corazones, in the southeastern region of Minas Gerais state, said the home where Pelé was born on October 23, 1940 would be completely rebuilt.
The work is part of celebrations for the 70th birthday of the top Brazilian soccer star, which include festivities at the Santos club, where he was a member for nearly 20 years.
Pelé has not visited his hometown for 23 years, but promised to return for the reopening of his house and a monument in the main square of the small village.
However, he said he expected to celebrate his birthday with his family and possibly may not attend the activities planned in Sao Paulo. (Prensa Latina)
