Committees for the Defense, an important bastion of the RevolutionSanta Cruz del Sur, Sep 28. –The row-materials collection, cleaning and beautification of neighborhoods, and the active participation in the blood donation were part of the actions developed by the members of the CDR from the Cándido González Popular Council, located in Santa Cruz del Sur, on behalf of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution.

There were also activities carried out in honor to those men who bravely died in the actions of Pino Tres and La Caobita, such as talks with the relatives of José y Jorge Oquendo, men who gloriously died in the ambush of Pino Tres.

According to Cándida Hernández Fábregas, politic councelor of the CDR at El Carmen and Cándido González Polular Councils, the work done by the residents of this area celebrates the congress of this organization.

The leader claimed that the members of the CDR in that area will wait for the 50th anniversary of the organization in the neighbourhoods, so as to reafirm that the largest organization in the country is stil an important bastion in the Revolution. (Hugo Betancourt Mayoral/ Radio Santa Cruz)
