Alarcon Urges to Multiply Solidarity for Cuban Five

Havana, Sep 12. – Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon urged to multiply, expand and deepen the solidarity actions to achieve the final release of five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisoned in USA.

Solidarity must rise, there must be millions of people demanding of U.S. President Barack Obama the immediate and unconditional release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, he said.

Speaking at a political-cultural event, Alarcon demanded the release of The Five, as they are known internationally, 12 years after their arrest, and called for the creation of new forms of communication to bring the truth to everyone.

He emphasized work must be done day and night, without rest or fatigue and knowing the Cuban Five sacrificed their lives for us and it is them who lead this fight.

Whoever wants to know the truth may simply visit the official website of the Court for the Southern District of Florida and find the case "United States against Gerardo Hernandez and others", the parliamentary leader said.

There it can also be read that Washington formally admitted they had no evidence to charge Gerardo with the most serious charge for which he is suffering a double life sentence.

Alarcon denounced again the silence of the mass media about the case of the Cuban Five. They did not even refer to the testimony offered in court by generals, admirals and advisers to the White House, or the confessions a long line of criminals made.

He also reiterated The Five were subject to a sordid legal farce in Miami, "nest of terrorists who control the city, the media and much of its economic and political activity".

He recalled that very soon the U.S. administration must act on the petition of habeas corpus on behalf of Gerardo, who has no other recourse in the U.S. system.(Prensa Latina)
