Iran Will Have Fuel for Reactor in One Year

Iran Will Have Fuel for Reactor in One Year Tehran, Aug 31. -Iran says it will have the atomic fuel needed for its Tehran reactor within one year, and reaffirmed its decision to continue its peaceful nuclear activities.

The director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, said the country has begun producing the fuel that will set in motion the nuclear plant of this capital, which produces radioisotopes for treating cancer.

Iran needs to enrich uranium at 20 percent for medical and therapeutic ends, Saleh stated, denying once again that the Iranian nuclear program pursues military goals.

In June, the UN Security Council imposed a fourth package of economic sanctions on Iran as a result of pressure exerted by the United States and other Western countries through unilateral steps to force Iran to halt its nuclear program. (Prensa Latina)
