More than 2,000 Aftershocks in ChinaBeijing, Jun 4. -Around 2,499 aftershocks of reduced or moderate magnitude have shaken the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, in the province of Qinghai, which was devastated by a 7-degree quake in April.

After the strong seism, such tremors are normal and they can keep on taking place for a prolonged period, informed Fan Lanbao, deputy director of the seismological department of this locality, who also added that there were no victims.

According to the Chinese Seismological Network, the last aftershock was of 4, 8 degrees on Richter scale and was registered at 04:47 (local time) on Friday.

Its epicentre was located at latitude 33, 3 degrees north and longitude 96, 2 degrees east, 80, 6 kilometres (50 miles) from Gyegu settlement, which was very affected by the April 14 earthquake. (Prensa Latina)
