During the activity to launch the magazine, director of the Office of the Historian of Havana Eusebio Leal shared with the audience his memories of the many occasions he was with Fidel.
For Leal, amid Fidel’s main features were generosity, the eagerness to seek knowledge, the timing of words and actions, as well as the discipline deriving from his training, all of them mixed with an incredible daring.
He said that Fidel was faced with many obstacles, but he overcame them, ‘he changed history, he placed the name of Cuba very high and made the most powerful empire that history has known to respect this country’, he said.
Rector of ISRI Isabel Allende, authorities of the Cuban Foreign Ministry and other important figures were also present in the ceremony.
The magazine includes passages of the speeches given by Cuban President Raul Castro and Eusebio Leal at the National Assembly of the People’s Power on December 27th, 2016, just two days after the first month of Fidel’s death.
It also has 13 articles on different aspects of Fidel’s life and work, written by prestigious intellectuals, journalists and scholars from Cuba and abroad.
