Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Jun 24.-The bee honey beneficiation industry, located in this central province, stands out at the national level due to the export of nearly 1,400 tons so far this year.

The plant processes raw material of the hives from Pinar del Rio to Camagüey, including the special municipality Isla de la Juventud.

Alberto Bravo, director of the company, told the press that the programs scheduled for 2018 are met, for national delivery and sales abroad.

He assured that the honeys meet all the quality indexes established by international standards, with very favorable humidity parameters, one of the indicators required by the foreign market.

Bravo pointed out that honey is a line with a secure market and a very high acceptance for being both food and medicine.

Most of the molasses classified as conventional, but the ecological ones are already processed, mainly from the province of Pinar del Rio, which is in high demand by the international market, he added.

Currently, more than 70 percent of the honey for pharmaceutical products and export are benefited annually in Yayabo River’s land.

He said that European countries are the main importers, with estimates exceeding 6,000 tons per year, followed by other Asian nations and Latin America.

It was known that with the start-up of a new beneficiation plant soon in the western zone and another one in the eastern region of the country, the national production will be compensated.

This will allow the Sancti Spiritus entity to benefit shipments from the territories of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila and Camagüey, said Bravo. (Prensa Latina)
