Lebanon: Great Expectation on Chucho Valdes Performance

Beirut, Oct 6. -The expectation on the performance of the Cuban jazz player Chucho Valdes has increased Thursday among the audience and the media in Lebanon, hours before his performance at the International Beirut Jazz Festival.Chucho Valdes and his band, the Afro- Cuban Messengers, are scheduled to perform Thursday night at this jazz festiva that takes place between the 30th of September and the 8th of October 2011 at Beirut Souks, Ajami square, Downtown Beirut.

L Orient Le Tour newspaper described Chucho as a great master of latin jazz and the most complete pianist of the world. Also made reference to the five Grammy awards he has won.

The festival opened with the performance of Rabih Abou Khalil and his band, from Lebanon; an icon of the musical fusion at the end of the 20th century in Beirut. He is also famous for his studies of flute, Arab and classic western music, and his influence from rock and jazz.

The quintet Philippe El-Hage also participated in the festival.

The festival will end with the performance of Marcus Miller,an American composer and a multi-instrumentalist. (Prensa Latina)
