Cuban history and culture present at French international fair

Caen, France, Sep 22.- The Cuban history and culture are the focus of attention at the International Fair in Caen, a northern French city, where event offers an imaginary journey to the island accompanied by its dances and musical rhythms.

The Cuban ambassador to France, Elio Rodriguez, participated this weekend in the inauguration of the fair, which takes place from September 18 to 27 at the Caen Exhibition Park, a town in the department of Calvados, in the region of Normandy.

Rodriguez thanked the organizers for the possibility of bringing the public closer to the beauty and rich culture and history of Cuba and highlighted the links between the two countries.

The diplomat recalled that more than 160,000 French tourists visit Cuba every year and expressed his expectations that these trips will be resumed once the complex situation imposed on a global scale by the Covid-19 pandemic is overcome.

This Monday’s program includes exhibitions on the Caribbean island’s natural attractions, such as its beaches, its colorful architecture and the old American vehicles that adorn its streets.

It also includes the presentation of tourism in the form of circuits by the agency Thellier Voyages, promoter of the camping-car option.

The Caen International Fair also includes an introduction to the typical dances and rhythms of Cuba, its gastronomy and the famous mojito.

Through the event, the French can learn about the Cuban reality, figures in its history such as Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara and the Revolution that in 1959 brought social justice and inclusion to the country.

One of the most popular places of the fair is the reconstruction of a Cuban city, from landscapes of emblematic localities such as Old Havana, whose historical center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982; Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Camagüey. (Prensa Latina)
