Cuba to Celebrate International Museum Day

Havana, May 11. – Cuba will celebrate the International Museum Day with an extensive program of activities in more than 300 institutions of its kind on the island, next May 18. Under the global theme "Museums in a changing world, new challenges, new inspirations," several entities of the historic center of Havana will inaugurate exhibitions to capture the interest of children and youth.

The College of San Geronimo de la Habana, old university headquarters, will open an exhibition with medals allegorical to educations centers in Venezuela, Peru, Panama, USA and Denmark.

Another significant exhibition will be "From the grain to weights is the story of the scales" collection dedicated to 159 anniversary of the pharmacy La Reunion, former drugstore Sarra, located in Compostela and Teniente Rey Street in Old Havana.

The public will also enjoy a collection of decorative glasses from the first half of the twentieth century, to be exhibited by the City Museum, in La Plaza de Armas.

Established in 1977 by the UN General Assembly, the International Museum Day is an opportunity for the public to go to museums to learn the stories and traditions of the countries and the world.(Prensa Latina)
