Mexico Pays Last Respects to Pedro Armendariz Pardo

Mexico, Jan 10. -An emotional farewell ceremony for the recently deceased actor Pedro Armendáriz Pardo took place at the Palace of Fine Arts in this capital and was attended by several figures of culture, local media reported on Tuesday.Consuelo Sáizar, head of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta), opened the act calling for applauses for the famous artist, who died of cancer on December 26 in the United States.

According to Saizar, Armendariz is an indispensable icon in Mexican cinema, but also a great promoter of young talent.

The farewell ceremony was attended by national cultural celebrities such as Carlos Fuentes, Luis Estrada, Felipe Cazals, Silvia Pinal, Maria Rojo, Carlos Carrera, Ignacio Lopez Tarso, Ofelia Medina, Alvaro Curiel, Hector Bonilla and Enrique Rocha.

Almendariz, who died at the age of 71, was also the son of popular actors Pedro Armendáriz Sr. and Carmelita Brown, and starred in more than 100 films. (Prensa Latina)
