N. Korea to be Represented in at least Seven Sports in LondonOlympics

Pyongyang, May 9. -The Democratic Republic of Korea classified athletes in seven different sports for the 2012 Olympic Games of London, a figure expected to increase in coming months, sports authorities reported on Monday.The qualification list includes the women's soccer team, which won the Olympic slot while getting three wins and two draws in five games in September.

This nation will also be represented in London-2012 by six men and 10 women in weightlifting, track and field (marathon), wrestling, table tennis, archery and shooting.

The country expects more qualifications in boxing, wrestling and diving, said Kang Sung-hui, a vice director in the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, cited by the KCNA news agency.

In the 2008 Olympic Games of Beijing, the North Korean representation won two gold medals, one silver, and three bronzes. (Prensa Latina)
