Maracuba marathon marked National Day of Sports and Physical Education

With Maracuba Race along La Playa Street and from El Cangrejito corner, to the sport area at the entrance of the city began this November 19th the National Sports and Physical Education Day.The Local act was propitious to demand the immediate release of the Cuban Five, imprisoned in US jails for more than 13 years, and it was dedicated to the 50 years of the National Institute of Sports and Physical Education (INDER), and to chess player  José Raúl Capablanca, symbol of sports in Cuba.

Workers of the field, prominent teachers during 2010-2011 and the first places of the marathon in the 11 to 12 years old, 12 to 16, and more than 50, categories, such as representatives of the ANCI, ANSOC and ACLIFIM were acknowledged

The festivities for the National Sports and Physical Education Day in southern Camaguey finished with a giant Sanabanda so as to remind that practicing sports is healthy.

The social chess contest wrapped the day where Yorkis Morricel defeated Yoandro González with 28 moves of a Sicilian defense and Guillermo Villegas beat his opponent Antonio Cambar in 60 moves of a queen pawn.
