Cuba Honors First Angolan President

Havana, Nov 21. -First Angolan President Agostinho Neto (1922-1979) will receive on Monday in this capital the homage of that country´s President of the National Assembly, Antonio Paulo Kassoma, who officially visits Cuba for four days.According to his agenda, the Angolan parliamentary leader will lay a wreath at the bust of the so-called father of the nation at the Park of the African National Heroes in Havana.

Other busts in that place are those of Amilcar Cabral, founder of the nationalities of Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde, South African Oliver Tambo, Mozambican Samora Machel, and Malian Modibo Keita.

Kassoma was already received by his peer Ricardo Alarcon. In the meeting, both leaders highlighted the deep friendship and the historic ties between Angola and Cuba.

The Angolan leader visited sites of economic importance in the western province of Mayabeque, among them the San Jose de las Lajas rum factory, where the worldwide known Havana Club rum is produced, and exchanged with local authorities.

Kassoma also talked with his country´s students who attend the Agrarian University, a school with more than 1,500 foreigners graduated in its 35 years of existence, among them 138 from Angola. (Prensa Latina)
