Cuban Troubador Declared Guest of Honor of Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Sep 3. -The government of this Autonomous City declared Cuban singer-song writer, poet, and musician Silvio Rodriguez Guest of Honor, an award to be granted in November when he performs in this capital, announced official sources.

A poet committed to his country, Rodriguez is a co-founder of the Nueva Trova, a musical movement known worldwide that continues touching the heart and conscience of thousands of people, said Parliament member Julio Raffo (South Project) to back the proposal.

Raffo also recalled that the Cuban troubadour is the author of more than 500 songs, including music for films, television series and plays, and has received many awards and decorations.

His songs have been translated into French, Italian, German, English, Portuguese, Guarani, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Swedish, and Catalan, said the proposal made by Ruffo, which was unanimously approved at the headquarters of the Buenos Aires' government. (Prensa Latina)
