U.S. Activists: End Blockade of CubaPinar del Rio, Cuba, Jul 12. -Opposed to the blockade on Cuba, Golbal Exchange co-founder Kevin Danaher stated that U.S. policy towards the island must be changed from the bottom up.

Danaher told Prensa Latina that education can be an effective instrument in fostering close relations between the Cuban and U.S. people and in eliminating a group of measures maintained by successive U.S. administrations for over 50 years.

Global Exchange which coordinates trips of solidarity to the Caribbean nation, and Danaher said each visit shows the sharp contrast between the anti-Cuban campaigns orchestrated in the United States and the reality of Cuba.

Referring to episodes of that policy of hostility, Danaher mentioned the attempts to kill the leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, and all types of twisted plots to suffocate Cuba's economy and hinder its social progress.

As an example of democracy, Danaher highlighted the Cuban parliament's heterogeneous composition, a feature that encourages a balanced representation of society.

Global Exchange and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples sponsored a visit to Cuba by more than 40 U.S. students and teachers, interested in joining efforts and exchanging experiences on renewable energy and environmental conservation. (Prensa Latina)
