Cuba: Int´t Meeting on Humanitarian Law EndsHavana, Jun 24. -The 5th International Summer School on Public International Law and the 7th Seminar-Workshop on International Humanitarian Law concludes Friday after several days of intense debate.

In the closing session, jurists from 11 countries will discuss how foreigners should be treated in exceptional situations, mercenarism, and the protection of cultural assets in conflict zones, among others.

On Thursday, delegates condemned the wars triggered by the United States and its allies against Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya to take control of their natural resources.

Participants in the event also questioned the role of international agencies in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, an example of violations of international humanitarian Law.

Patrick Zahnd, a Latin America regional legal adviser for the Red Cross, told Prensa Latina that humanitarian law should prevail today more than ever in the planet. (Prensa Latina)
