Cubans Ratify Unity in May Day March

Cubans Ratify Unity in May Day MarchHavana, May 1. -Cubans march on May 1 in the main squares of the country to ratify before the world the unity of the people around their social project.

The day is also a tribute to half a century of two important historical events: the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution and the defeat of the Bay of Pigs invasion that was organized and financed by the United States, in the western province of Matanzas.

On this occasion, over 1,600 guests from 63 countries march with the Cuban people as an expression of solidarity with the island.

Sources from the union movement stressed the participation of 21 brigades in solidarity with Cuba and 147 trade union organizations, and the presence of 233 trade union and solidarity groups from Uruguay, 218 from France and 67 from the US.

The May Day March confirms the popular support for the agreements of the recently concluded 6th Congress of the Communist Party and denounces the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington.

In addition, workers demand the release of five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisoned in the US since 1998. (Prensa Latina)
