Cuban Parliament Condemns Moroccan Attack on Sahrawi People Havana, Nov 12. – The National Assembly of People's Power on Friday condemned the attack by Moroccan military forces on the Sahrawi protest camp of Gdeim Izik, near El Aaiun.

In a statement published by Granma newspaper, the Cuban Parliament described as despicable the Moroccan troop actions against a tent camp with over 20,000 civilian which left at least 13 dead and over 60 injured.

It was a premeditated crime committed against peaceful protesters who were demanding the end of Moroccan occupation and domination of Sahrawi land, the statement says.

The Cuban people and Parliament reject that aggression, and urge the UN Security Council to exert all its influence to stop those actions, and to conduct a thorough investigation of the events and their tragic consequences for the Sahrawi people.

"We call upon the UN to seriously work for the implementation of and full compliance with its resolutions on the Western Sahara, without with there will be no solution to the serious problems the Moroccan occupation is causing to that noble people," the declaration says.(Prensa Latina)
