Young Hondurans Condemn Eviction from UNAH

Young Hondurans Condemn Eviction from UNAH Tegucigalpa, Sep 10. -The national youth front against the coup condemned the violent eviction of union workers who were on a hunger strike at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).

Last weekend hundreds of members of the security forces entered the UNAH campus to evict dozens of workers from that center who were protesting, since April, against the dismissal of 100 of their colleagues.

The members of the youth front state in a communiqué that UNAH military occupation is an act of intimidation and political persecution.

That front denounced that since the coup on June 2009, groups of the economic and political power are trying to promote the closure of the UNAH and privatize public education.

The UNAH has 80,000 students; 60,000 of them study in the capital and the rest in regional centers. (Prensa Latina)
