Dominguez to Lead Cuban Chess TeamHavana, Sep 8. -Grandmaster (GM) Leinier Dominguez will lead the Cuban chess team to the Olympics in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia, from September 21 to October 11, advanced the Cuban sport daily Jit.

Dominguez, the best Latin American in the World List of the International Chess Federation, ranks 29th with 2.716 Elo points.

The Cuban male team, whose Elo average is 2.652 points, also includes GM Lazaro Bruzon (2.679), Yuniesky Quesada (2.614), Fidel Corrales (2.599) and Holden Hernández (2.563).

The female team is made up of Lisandra Ordaz (2.359), Oleiny Linares (2.328), Yaniet Marrero (2.324), Sulennis Pina (2.322) and Maritza Arribas (2.282).

In the previous Olimpics, held in Dresden, Germany, in 2008, Cuba finished in the 23rd position in the male contest and 25th in the female one. (Prensa Latina)
