The delegation competed with 49 countries. Its four members, including an 11-year-old boy, won the Gold Medal, and got third and fourth place in the middle of a high-level competition.

Roberto Vargas, director and founder of the Cuban school of Wushu, told Prensa Latina that compared to previous editions, the event was very strong, because for the first time all the fast and slow martial arts styles were mixed.

Vargas described the performance of the Cuban youth as outstanding and considered that the name of the Cuban martial arts institution was put high almost 25 years after the Cuban School of Wushu, based in the Chinese district of Havana, was founded.

More than 5,000 wushu practitioners from all over the workd participated from June 14 to 18 in the Emeishan championship.
