Cuban Ambassador ratifies Support to Bahamian People and Government

Nassau, Sep 4.- Cuban Ambassador to the Bahamas, Ismara Vargas, ratified her country’s solidarity with the people and government of this nation affected by the impact of Hurricane Dorian.

In an interview with Prensa Latina, Vargas highlighted the joint work between all Cuban institutions in order to preserve the human lives of the more than 60 national collaborators present throughout the seven Bahamian islands.

The diplomat highlighted the preparation of all personnel for the risk situation ahead of the strong tropical cyclone.

Regarding the Cubans present on the islands of Abaco and Gran Bahamas, the most devastated, the ambassador added that there has always been permanent communication and links with local authorities.

She said that weather in the capital began to improve on Tuesday afternoon, although the gusts of wind were noticeable hundreds of kilometers from the eye of the hurricane.

‘As is always the case with Cuban workers in other parts of the world, in the face of these disasters everyone will contribute with their efforts in the recovery stage,’ she said.

Previously, President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed their condolences and willingness to cooperate in mitigating the damage.

The passage of Hurricane Dorian through the Bahamas, as the strongest storm that has ever made landfall in the island nation, has so far caused the deaths of seven people, including an eight-year-old boy.

The National Hurricane Center lifted for Wednesday all tropical storm warnings in the Bahamas. Dorian is now advancing towards the United States along the coast of Florida to Georgia and The Carolinas.  (Latin Press)
