More than 1,900 Publishers in Mexican Fair of Guadalajara

Mexico, Nov 23. -More than 1,900 publishers from around 40 countries will participate in the International Book Fair of Guadalajara, to be held from November 26 to December 4.This fair includes some 500 book presentations, 49 literary forums and 22 academic forums, among other activities, and is expected to be attended by about 600 thousand people.

The fair´s program also includes workshops for children and young people and the El placer de la lectura (The pleasure of reading) program, which is aimed at promoting the love for books in that age group and dialogue between authors and readers.

Guadalajara Book Fair will be attended by dozens of Latin American writers and other countries, while Germany is the guest of honor.

The Fair also honors outstanding cultural personalities throughout the year.

This time the fair awarded the Colombian writer Fernando Vallejo the Literature Prize, the Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz Award to the Spanish Almudena Grandes, and the tribute to editorial merit to the Argentine Arnaldo Olfila Reynal, who is the director of the Economic Culture Found. (Prensa Latina)
