On the hill near El Cobre where the monument, a sculpture by Alberto Lescay, stands, folk groups will perform dances and songs similar to those of the men and women who were forcibly taken from their lands to feed the voracity of colonialism.

The International Colloquium "El Caribe que nos Une" (The Caribbean which Unites Us) will conclude Friday with discussions on topics related to history, resistances, cultural practices, Caribbean identity keys and its multiple connections.

A workshop on popular religions, one of the main spaces at this event, also ends tomorrow, with the participation of academics and religious people.

Caribbean diplomats in Cuba are participating in these diverse events, along with participants from 24 countries. The festival, also known as the Fiesta of Fire, ends July 9. (Prensa Latina)
