State-of-the-Art Technology to Monitor Uruguay River
Montevideo, Jan 12. -Binational environmental monitoring of the Uruguay River, which serves as a border with Argentina, will use state-of-the-art technology, including a series of automatic equipment and satellite images, the Administrative Commission of the River Uruguay (CARU) reported.
In a nine-page report, the commission summed up the activities and decisions adopted since April 2010 on how to monitor the UPM pulp mill, located on Uruguayan soil.
The document notes that the institution is in the stage of coming up with an estimate for some of the state-of-the-art devices and laboratories it will need.
The CARU informed about the creation of an Uruguayan-Argentine Scientific Committee, labor standards, the planning of monthly meetings and a teleconference system to reduce travel. (Prensa Latina)
