[:es]

Brussels, Dec 9 .- The Council of Ministers of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States, (ACP) has approved in Brussels a new resolution in support of Cuba’s fight against the blockade imposed by the United States, diplomatic sources informed.

The 106th session of the Council, supported by all its members, approved the resolution that recalls the conviction of the ACP Heads of State to use unilateral coercive measures aimed at preventing the exercise of the countries’ right to determine their economic, political and social system, a statement said.

The text also rejects the application of extraterritorial measures and laws contrary to the International Law, such as the Helms-Burton Act.

The resolution, which also expresses concern about the strengthening of the extraterritorial application of the blockade, continues with the measure adopted by this legislative body in May, given the refusal of the ING Bank to accept the payment of Cuba’s contribution to the Group.

Representatives of several countries that expressed their support for Cuba and recognized the island’s contribution to the economic and social development of their nations, despite the limitations imposed by the Washington economic, commercial and financial siege, attended the meeting.

The recognition to the work carried out by Cuban health workers in fighting Ebola virus in Sierra Leone, Liberia and the Republic of Guinea stood out. The ACP, with headquarters in the capital of Belgium, is composed of 79 states and has Guyanese Patrick Gomes as its secretary-general.(Prensa Latina)
