Cuban Students Guaranteed Continuity of Studies

Havana, Aug 17 .- The Ministry of Education of Cuba has guaranteed the continuity of studies for all students who have completed their education Basic Secondary education, and now is adjusting mechanisms for the 2019-2020 academic year.

 

Education Minister Ena Elsa Velazquez told national television that 100 percent of adolescents who finished 9th grade can continue their education.

A total of 42% will continue their studies in pre-university educational centers, and 58% will enter vocational technical education, which includes specialties related to the arts, public health, teaching and skilled workers.

She pointed out that it is a priority to permanently guarantee sufficient teacher coverage in every classroom.

In that regard, more than 8,000 Cuban teachers will return to the classroom after the salary increase to the budgeted sector, announced weeks ago by the national government.

According to the sector minister, this figure will allow the 2019-2020 academic year to begin with 95% teacher coverage.(Prensa Latina)
