Ecuador Slams in Geneva U.S. Blockade on Cuba

Geneva, May 23. – Ecuador''s Vice President Lenin Moreno condemned in this city the genocide blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over 50 years.

Moreno, who leads his country's delegation to the Second Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), stated that Cuba is a worthy example of solidarity towards other peoples.

Cuba's support to Ecuador has allowed the Citizen's Revolution of President Rafael Correa to multiply achievements in sectors such health and education, the vice president said.

The Ecuadorian delegation in Geneva organized an activity parallel to the UPR event, to announce the results of the Manuela Espejo and Joaquin Gallegos missions.

Members of the Human Rights Council and other guests attended the meeting.

The counselor of the Cuban mission to the International Organizations in Geneva, Carlos Fidel Martin, expressed his country's willingness to collaborate with Ecuador and everyone who needs it, despite being a country blocked by the largest violator of human rights in the world.(Prensa Latina)
