Cuba to Take Judo Teams to ParisHavana, Aug 3. – Cuba will take complete teams to the World Judo Championship in Paris, France, scheduled to be held from August 24 to 28, as published by the Cuban National Judo Federation. The Cuban male judo team, coached by Justo Noda, is comprised of the athletes Asley González (90 kilograms), Antonio Betancourt (60), Angelo Gómez (66), Ronald Girones (73), Osmay Cruz (81), Oreidis Despaigne (100), Oscar Braison (plus 100 kilograms).

The female judo team, coached by Professor Ronaldo Veitia, is formed by Dayaris Mestre (48 kilograms), Kaliema Antomachín (78), Yanet Bermoy (52), Yurisleidis Lupetey (57), Mariset Espinosa (63), Onix Cortés (70), Yalennis Castillo (78) and Idalis Ortiz (over 78 kilograms).

At the 2010 World Championship in Tokyo, Japan, Idalis Ortiz won a bronze medal, and so did her teammate Yaritza Abel (63 kilograms), who will be absent from the tournament in Paris because of an injury in her jaw.

Yaritza Abel will be replaced by Mariset Espinosa, third place at the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this year. (Prensa Latina)
