Colloquium on Risk Assessment in CubaHavana, Jul 4. -The 3rd International Colloquium on Assessments of Hazard, Vulnerability and Risks for Disasters Reduction will be run in this capital Jul 6-8.

International expects to the forum will exchange experiences on the issue, emphasizing in small island states and coastal ecosystems to face the effects of climate change.

Lectures, panels, roundtable discussions and poster sessions are part of the delegatesâ�Ö work agenda, as well as some aspects referred to tropical storms and other extreme events, coastline regression, droughts, forest fires, among other threats.

Cuban experts will present experiences as of the erosion of the islandâ�Ös beaches, mangrove swamps as a protection against natural disasters, and the use of maps of multiple hazards to study disaster risks, among others.

The International Convention on Environment and Development, to begin Monday at the Havanaâ�Ös Conference Center, is being held in parallel with the colloquium.

The Convention also includes the congresses of protected areas, climate change, ecosystems and biodiversity, education and environmental management, and other two colloquiums, one on environmental right and another on environmental order. (Prensa Latina)
