Cuba Defeats Japan, S. Korea at Judo World CupHavana, May 13. -The Cuban men´s judo team defeated Japan and South Korea on the first day of the World Judo Championships team competition at the Aquidaba Sports Complex in San Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.

Justo Noda, Cuan head coach, said Cuba defeated both teams with three wins each, one loss and one tie.

Cuba is participating in the tournament with Antonio Betancourt (60 kg), Angelo Gomez (66), Ronald Girones (73), Osmay Cruz (81), Asley Gonzalez and Melvin Morlot (90), Oreidis Despaigne (100) and Oscar Braison (+100).

Two rounds were set for each team on Thursday, and the preliminaries will end Friday in a round-robin.

Argentina, Cuba, Japan, South Korea and Brazil will compete in Saturday's semifinals. (Prensa Latina)
