6th Cuban Party Congress Begins TodayHavana, Apr 16. -Some 1,000 delegates will begin on Saturday debates of the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), focused on a group of measures to update the country"s economic model.

The opening session of the Congress, to be run until April 19, will start at 16:00 local time at the capitalâ�Ös Conference Center.

The meeting will debate the Economic and Social Policy Guideline of the Draft Party Program, a document discussed in meetings with workers, students, and in the communities from December 2010 to February 2011.

As a result of meetings, the text will be put to delegates for consideration, and then they will elect the members of the Partyâ�Ös management bodies for the next period.

The PCC is the higher leading force of the society and the State. Its task is to organize and direct common efforts towards the construction of the socialism and the communist society. (Prensa Latina)
