Veracruz, Mexico, Mar 3. -Coordinator of the Organizing Committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games of Veracruz 2014, Carlos Hernandez, confirmed the attendance of all 32 olympic committees to the General Assembly of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (CACSO) on Friday, March 4.
The Executive Committee of CACSO, presided over by Puerto Rican Hector Cardona, is to be held this Wednesday at a hotel in Boca del Rio, while the General Assembly will be held in the same place next Friday.
The 43rd regular General Assembly has a special significance because it is a call to elections, submitted to CACSO Executive Committee and to all national olympic committees.
Carlos Hernandez said that the main venue of the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games was granted to Veracruz, but Boca del Rio municipality, as well as Xalapa, the capital of Veracruz, and other cities like Tuxpan, will also host some sports events.
President of the Mexican Olympic Committee Felipe Munoz highlighted his countryâÖs satisfaction for welcoming in Veracruz the sports representatives of all 32 CACSO member states in Central America and the Caribbean.
He highlighted the presence of Cuba in this meeting and said that its absence from the subregional event in Puerto Rico last year was for reasons beyond its control.
It is said that the Cuban delegation, which skipped the previous games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, because of lack of security guarantees from the US government, will be led by General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Cuban Basketball Federation Ruperto Herrera.
