Roberto Carlos Makes His Debut in RussiaMoscow, Feb 28. -Renowned Brazilian soccer player Roberto Carlos will make his debut today in the Russian League with his new team, the Anzhi Makhachkala, against the St. Petersburg Zenit, in the round before the quarterfinals of the Russian Cup.

The match will take place in Grozni, Chechnya's capital, as the Russian Soccer Union disqualified the field of the Anzhi's stadium for having poor conditions.

"I'm eager to play my first match. A win over the Zenit will not be a bad start for my career with the Anzhi", Roberto Carlos, 37, told the Dagestani sports press.

The Anzhi finished 11th last season, and aspires this year to improve its standing, and the teams is relying on the Brazilian players to help it reach that goal. Roberto Carlos signed a two-year contract with the Dagestani club whose D.T. is Italian Luciano Spalletti.

The Brazilian legend left the Corinthians to join the Russian team on a free transfer. (Prensa Latina)
