Political dialogue, the focus of Cuba-EU meeting

Havana, Sep 10 .-Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reported this Monday that the development of political dialogue, trade, investment and cooperation are part of the agenda of the 2nd Cuba-European Union (EU) Joint Council taking place in this capital.

The extraterritorial effect of the Helms-Burton Act is also on the agenda of the encounter, the Cuban minister tweeted.

Rodriguez added that the meeting, also chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini ‘will help boost positive ties.’

We will talk about the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, which regulates the links between Brussels and Havana, added the head of Cuban diplomacy. Rodriguez and Mogherini, who has been in Cuba since Sunday, chaired the first of these meetings in Brussels on May 15, 2018.

The Agreement establishes the conditions for the development of ‘stable, mutually beneficial and long-term links’ and entered into force in 2017.

Likewise, Cuba acknowledges the EU’s rejection of the application of Title III of the Helms Burton Act, which damages the interests of Europeans.
