Francophone Club Opens in Varadero, Cuba”s Main Resort

Varadero, Cuba, Dec 29 .-The Lookea Peninsula Varadero operates today in this resort, the principal of Cuba, as the first francophone club in the Island, opened by the group Transat Francia in the current tourist season.

The place lies in the Meliá Peninsula Hotel and among its attractions includes a water park, sports activities such as beach volleyball, canoeing, catamaran, golf games and dance.

The facility also includes proposals for excursions to places like Trinidad and Cienfuegos (central /south), Villa Clara (center), Guama Complex (West) and the Cuban capital.

The airline XL Airwais will be responsible for the direct flights of 250 seats from Paris to this town, on a weekly basis every Monday, from this December until the end of May next year.

In turn, the group Transat France consolidated its position as one of the largest issuer of vacationers to this Caribbean nation, according to a note released by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism.

This operation is the result of the work of the French group, the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, the chain Meliá Hotels International, and the tourism local group Gaviota.

Varadero is located on the north coast of the western province of Matanzas, 140 kilometers east of Havana, has 51 hotels.
