Cuban parliament Commissions Debate on 2012 Projections

Havana, Dec 20. -The 12 permanent commissions of the National Assembly of Peoples Power debates on Tuesday in this capital on economic bills and the 2012 budget in their areas of competence.In the debates -scheduled to end on Wednesday- the working groups will take into account the agreements of the 6th Congress of the Communist Party related to the update of the economic model of the island.

Besides the projections for 2012 the meeting will study issues of great interest for citizens based on the aforementioned updating process and problems identified by parliamentarians and voters.

Among the questions that generate expectations here, the Economic Affairs Commission will consider measures related to widening the regulation of self-employment, import substitution and the promotion of exports.

The group responsible for constitutional and legal issues will tackle distribution of vacant lands in usufruct and regulations for the transfer of ownership of motor cars and housing.

The Food and Agriculture committee also emphasized, in its debates, productive efficiency and the contribution of science to food security in Cuba.

The two-day work of the permanent commissions and their 400 or so legislators precedes a day devoted to reports from institutions on Thursday and the 8th ordinary period of sessions of the National Assembly convened for next Friday. (Prensa Latina)
