Cuba Discredits USA and its Allies in Geneva

Cuba Discredits USA and its Allies in GenevaGeneva, Jun 16. -Cuba on Thursday discredited the United States and its Western allies in the UN Human Rights Council because of their persistent, savage criticism of countries of the South.

"Their rhetoric is not sincere, and their lists of alleged human rights violations in countries of the South are not legitimate," Cuban representative Juan Antonio Quintanilla said.

The hundreds of thousands of bodies of innocent people killed by cutting-edge weapons, and the hundreds of millions of poor and hungry people in the world bear witness to the brutality and disregard for human dignity of many governments of the North, the diplomat said.

Quintanilla also categorically rejected "baseless criticism against my country" by emissaries from Washington and the Czech Republic.

Instead of criticizing others, the White House should end immediately the blockade maintained on Cuba for over 50 years ago, the Cuban representative noted.

Also, the United States should release the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in that country and punish Luis Posada Carriles, the self-confessed mastermind of criminal actions against Cuba who freely walks the streets of the United States with impunity.

Quintanilla also referred to torture, extrajudicial executions and other serious violations committed in theGuantanamo, Abu Ghraib, Bagram, NAMA and BALAD military bases, executed by the Joint Special Operations Command and the CIA. (Prensa Latina)
