President of Panama Continues Talks in Cuba

Havana, Oct 30.- Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela continues his visit to Cuba after meeting with his counterpart and host Miguel Diaz-Canel, with whom he addressed bilateral, regional and international issues.

 

President Diaz-Canel received the visitor on Monday. On the Cuban side, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca; the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velazquez; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rogelio Sierra, participated in the meeting.

An extensive plan of activities that opened on Tuesday with a tour of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, founded in 1986, occupies the agenda of Varela and covers his stay here until Wednesday, October 31.

As part of his agenda, the Panamanian president will also visit the Solidaridad con Panama school, a national reference center designed for children with special physical and educational needs.

Varela arrived in Cuba on Monday for a three-day official visit.
