Havana, April 23.- The concert of the instrumentalist Ariadana Cuellar and the Duo Concuerda accompanied by the Cuba National Symphony Orchestra will open the Havana 15th Guitar International Festival and Competition.

 

The evening will be at Covarrubias hall of the National Theater at 11:00 local time, and it will be prefaced by the participants of the event’s draw which is considered among the most prestigious ones of the world.

The Festival will last until April 29 and for the competition 16 participants from Poland, Spain, France, Germany/Romania, Costa Rica and Cuba have confirmed their presence.

The first three awards grant benefits for recording rights of the second and third rounds,by the Record Company Colibri Production and the first position also will share a concert with the National Symphony Orchestra.

The election of the winners will be in charge of a jury led by the masters Jesus Ortega and Juan Pinera, the Spanish guitarist and composer Davis del Puerto, the German pedagogue Karl Heinz, and the President of the Competition Andres Segovia, Diego Martinez.

The prestigious instrumentalists Pepe Romero(Spain),Egberto Gismonti(Brazil)and Elliot Fisk (United States) have already confirmed their presence.

The meeting includes beside the festival, seven concerts, a lecture, a workshop about guitar an d 5 master classes which will be taught at the National Theater of Cuba, Minor Basilica of San Francisco de Asis Convent , Musical Instrument Factory and the Chamber of the Fine Art Museum.

Guitar International Competition and Festival, created by Maestro Leo Brower, is chaired by the Instrumentalist and Pedagogue Jesus Ortega and it is the most important event of its type organized in Cuba.(Prensa Latina)
