Fabelo’s work for auction at the XXI Habano Festival

Havana, Feb 21.-Painting Smoke in the Eyes of Cuban artist Roberto Fabelo was auctioned in Havana for 122,500 dollars during in the Habano Festival.

 

The auction proceeds will go to Cuba’s Public Health Ministry, the auction drivers explained last night.

After the growing bids, the painting remained with Spanish collector established in Cuba Luciano Mendez who assured that it is a magnificent work, one of the best Fabelo has made.

The renowned Cuban painter, draftsman, engraver and sculptor, a key figure in the consolidation of the country’s contemporary artistic avant-garde, plays in this piece as in other allegorical pieces of his work with cigar smoke.

Lovers and connoisseurs of the tobacco world, collectors and businessmen come to the 21th Habano Festival, which pays tribute to Havana for its 500th anniversary and to the brand San Cristobal de La Habana, which celebrates 20 years of its creation. (Prensa Latina)
