Experts from eight countries will present at Cuba’s RedBioLac Meeting

Varadero, Cuba, Oct 10.- Experts from eight countries will present at the 11th RedBioLAC Meeting to be held here from October 17 to 18 with the theme Biodigesters: an agroecological option in the rural context, according to its organizers.

The Network of Biodigesters for Latin America and the Caribbean (RedBioLAC), founded 11 years ago, represents a large group of professionals of this mechanism, which is consolidated at the regional level as a relevant exchange space.

The event will be hosted by the Pastures and Forages Research Station Indio Hatuey, founded in 1962 and attached to the University of the province of Matanzas, which investigates and implements systems to produce food and energy in a sustainable and friendly way with the rural environment.

Yuvan Contino, a specialist of the institution, told Prensa Latina that the preliminary program includes courses at Indio Hatuey, in the municipality of Perico; a technical tour through the municipality of Marti and the meeting in Varadero.

Contino said that experts from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Cuba will present more than 40 papers divided into seven blocks of topics.

Biodigesters are natural systems that take advantage of organic waste from agricultural activities, mainly manure, to produce biogas (fuel) and biol (natural fertilizer).
