Havana, May 26 .-Guinea-Bissau Ambassador to Cuba, Abel Coelho, expressed his people’s gratitude here for the solidarity of this people with Africa and rejected the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States maintains against the island.

We have always had Cuba by our side in all the combats. Africa will always be on the side of this country, stated the head of the African diplomatic corps in the island.

In that sense, the diplomat recalled the Cubans that shed their blood in the struggles for the independence of African nations and embraced that cause as theirs.

By intervening in the central act for the Day of Africa, held at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Coelho ratified his rejection of the blockade and pointed out the resistance of the Cuban people to this unilateral measurethat has been imposed for almost 60 years.

Likewise, he conveyed congratulations to the newly elected Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, for the confidence the people have placed in him to lead the destiny of the Caribbean country.

We are convinced that his leadership will continue along the path traced by the historical leaders of the Revolution, Fidel Castro and Raúl Castro, added Coelho at the ceremony in which the first vice president, Salvador Valdés, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, participated.
