Paris Screens Film on Silvio Rodriguez’ Tour of Neighborhoods in Cuba

Paris, Dec 8 .-The Cervantes Institute in Paris is screening the documentary ”Cancion de barrio” (Song of the Street), by Alejandro Ramirez Anderson, a film focused on the tour of some of Havana”s poor neighborhoods by renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez.

According to organizers, the film records the concerts offered by Rodriguez in Havana’s 34 poor neighborhoods, a project began in 2010 and has already about 87 performances.

The central character of the documentary is the choral voice of the residents of the districts, says the stament, which also announced the presence of the singer-songwriter in the release of the film.

Rodriguez exhibited on Monday, December 4, at UNESCO’s headquarters a series of photos taken by him, with the public attending these concerts in the forefront.

Cuba’s ambassador to UNESCO, Dulce Buergo, said during the opening ceremony of the exhibition that she reflects ‘the artist’s most sincere commitment to humanity, social justice, love, friendship … the most sincere commitment to his people’.

Organized by the Cuban mission to UNESCO, the Spanish General Society of Authors and Editors and Ojala recording company, the exhibition includes 36 snapshots and is open to the public until today.
