Havana, May 15.- President Miguel Diaz-Canel checked the program of actions to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Villa San Cristobal de La Habana, Granma newspaper published.

 

According to the source, the newly elected president led a meeting of the Government Group to support the capital, activated in 2012 prior to the November 16, 2019 celebration.

Diaz-Canel called on those present to determine clearly what activities demand the participation of the population, ‘what would commit even more Havana inhabitants to the revitalization of the city.’

‘We have enough reasons to motivate us to work for the 500th anniversary of Havana,’ he said citied by the newspaper with the largest distribution on the island.

The Government Group’s mission is to support the fulfillment of the economic and social actions that correspond to the entities located in this capital, one of the 15 Cuban provinces.

In addition to Diaz-Canel, the head of the Group, the vice president of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisas; and First Secretary of the Communist Party’s Provincial Committee, Mercedes Lopez, among other leaders, participated in the meeting.
